Galactic Grub: Gluten-free eating at Docking Bay 7 in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge (Disney World)

Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo is a quick-service restaurant located in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Walt Disney World Resort. During a recent trip, I had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant twice. 

The aesthetics of this restaurant is nearly unmatched in the park. It feels like a cantina straight out of Star Wars, creating an incredibly immersive experience. We chose to sit outdoors in the courtyard both times rather than indoors - tempting as it was.  If you are able to snag a seat along the courtyard fence, you’ll be treated to fantastic views of the Millennium Falcon It is a great experience being able to eat dinner with the Millennium Falcon in the background.

Aside from the ambiance, the restaurant operates like a typical quick-service eatery, with ordering available either at the counter or through the online Disney World app. There is a range of food on offer, all with unique Star Wars-inspired names. Gluten-free options were also plentiful, with a selection of dishes available. See the picture below to see the full list of offerings.

On both visits, I ordered the Endorian Fried Chicken Tip Yip - essentially fried chicken with some rice and vegetables. 

As with other quick-service restaurants, allergen-friendly meals are served on a purple tray. The chicken was light and flavorful, and the vegetables and rice complemented the dish nicely. Overall, it made for a tasty, wholesome meal.

Perhaps the one critique with this meal is the portion sizes. While it is enough to be satisfying, the $16.29 USD price tag feels a bit steep for the quantity provided.

All in all, despite being slightly pricey, Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo was one of my favourite places to eat at Disney World. The food was enjoyable, and nothing could beat the ambience of the place. Being able to look out of the courtyard to the Millennium Falcon made it feel like you really had stepped into a galaxy far far away.
