Good evening, Readers,

Recently, I had the privilege to visit Disney World. During my stay, I dined at a variety at Disney’s quick-service restaurants and wanted to use this post to provide a general guide on gluten-free options at these restaurants.

What are Quick-Service Restaurants?

Quick-service restaurants are essentially takeaway-style eateries scattered throughout the parks and hotels. As the name suggests, they are designed for guests to get food quickly While they usually offer plenty of seating, you can also order your meal to go.  Using quick service restaurants at the parks and hotels made finding and eating gluten-free food throughout the day a breeze. So, what can you expect from a quick service restaurant.

Gluten-Free Options at Disney World Quick-Service Restaurants:

Many quick-service restaurants offer a range of gluten-free options. Although I only tried a handful of them, the ordering process seemed to be consistent across all locations.  You have the option to either order at a counter or online through the Disney World app

  • Order at the Counter:

If ordering at a counter, be sure to inform the server that you are gluten-free. They will be able to provide a gluten free menu and may get a chef to take your order on a special allergen docket.

  • Ordering Online:

You can also order online through the Disney World official app. The app lists all the quick service restaurants and their menus, which is incredibly useful when deciding where to eat. To order:

  1.   Click on the restaurant you are wanting to eat from.

  2.   Once you have bought up the menu, scroll down to the very bottom of the menu.

  3. Click on the “Allergen Menu” tab and select on “Gluten Allergen” to view all the gluten-free options.

Once your food is ready, you will need to proceed to the pick-up window.  All allergen-friendly meals are served on a different coloured tray (typically a purple tray). Occasionally, on pick up the chef at the window will also confirm the allergen and make sure everything in the meal is gluten-free.

Disney seems to take great care, treating gluten-free food as if it is an allergen. I never once had any issues, and their staff were always super friendly and willing to help.

Personal Experience:

Throughout my visit, I dined at several different quick-service restaurants, and they all followed this same procedure. This made them quick, convenient, and reliable stops during the day, especially since I could check the menu online beforehand to see exactly what was available.

Food quality tended to be pretty good. Nothing super special nor fancy, but it tended to be fulfilling and enjoyable. Quick-service restaurants also offer more affordable meal options compared to Disney’s sit-down restaurants, where prices can add up quickly.

If you are interested about certain quick service restaurants, below are links to individual reviews. Particular highlights included Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo (located in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and Scat Cat’s Club (located at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter).
